Suicide awareness and prevention for young men
Helping young men, in Tom’s name.
In the UK, suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50 years old. In England, men are over three times more likely than women to die by suicide. And of the nine regions that make up England, the South West has the third-highest suicide rate for men.
We want to do more to reach young men across Devon with a message: that suicide is never the answer. That’s why we created the Tom Windsor Memorial Fund — to raise money that will enable us to increase access to advice, information and support specifically tailored to young men.
When Tom passed away tragically at the age of 29 in 2021, we decided to immortalise his name in a new campaign aimed at supporting men at higher risk of suicide. By contributing to the Tom Windsor Memorial Fund, you can help Devon Mind reach as many young men across Devon as possible, to give them the mental health advice and support they need.
We promise that every penny raised as part of this campaign will be used to help men in Devon access mental health support and advice — whether it’s in the form of leaflets, presentations, peer support groups, webinars, or direct intervention. In memory of those we have lost to suicide, we will work hard to reduce the number of male suicides across our county.
