In numbers: How we provided support during the COVID-19 lockdown

When a national lockdown was first announced in response to COVID-19 on 23 March 2020, a lot of thoughts went through people’s heads. We worried about our jobs, our loved ones, and our way of life. Most of all, we worried about our health — both physical and mental.

During the six months following the start of lockdown, we spoke with many residents from across Devon who were worried about their mental health. Operating at a severely reduced capacity, almost entirely from our homes, we tried our best to provide support and advice despite being unable to provide face-to-face services. We adapted to our ‘new normal’ and provided support over the phone, by email, and online in various ways.

Today, we wanted to share some insights to illustrate just how crucial mental health support is during such difficult times.
