Samba Drum Group

6-week summer wellbeing group in North Devon

Group overview:

Have you ever wanted to be a part of a music group but don’t have any previous experience? This is the group for you!

Our 6-week summer wellbeing group is a safe, non-judgmental space to enjoy the fun and joy of music, whilst connecting with others to create Samba music. Music can have a positive impact on our mental health and studies have shown that it can help boost our mood and reduce stress. The aim of the group is creative expression to boost mental wellbeing and anyone in Devon aged 18 years or over is welcome to join. There will be an opportunity for conversation during each session and tea and coffee will be provided. No previous experience, rhythm, or musical ability is needed to join the group.

Group format:

Our Samba Drum Group is a six-week summer wellbeing group consisting of 6 x 1.5-hour evening sessions (one per week) and is hosted by Devon Mind staff. To support with covering the costs of running the group, we kindly request a voluntary contribution of £1-2 on the day, from those that are able to and registration is required to join.

Please note: You do not need to have any particular level of musical skill or ability to join this group and there is no expectation for a group performance at the end of the 6-weeks.
