Plymouth Harbour Half raises £19,000 — total with 10K now £34,000!

Following on from our first-ever active challenge event in the form of the Plymouth Harbour 10K last October, on Sunday 26 March 2023 we hosted the first Plymouth Harbour Half to round out the inaugural Plymouth Harbour Runs (PHR) series. We can now announce that we have raised a massive £19,763.36 (and counting) from the half marathon, which brings the 2022/23 total to a whopping £34,389.50!

The inaugural PHR Half, in aid of Devon Mind and the Chestnut Appeal, welcomed over 250 runners to complete a unique, mainly off-road route from Yelverton all the way back to the Barbican, finishing up with free drinks and cake at official event partner Rockets & Rascals. The event was a huge success, adding almost £20,000 in ticket sales and donations to the total for the 2022/23 pair of runs, which now stands over £34,000. The money raised will be used to support people across Plymouth and Devon with their mental health.

Feedback from the runners has been overwhelmingly positive, with 99% agreeing they would recommend the event to a friend, 93% giving it a rating of at least four out of five, and multiple people describing it as “excellent”, “great”, or “brilliant”. Our staff and volunteers were hugely humbled by all the lovely feedback we received on the day, with many runners describing how welcoming and inclusive the event was — with the mix of elite and more casual runners demonstrating just how important running is to so many different people.

Devon Mind Marketing & Fundraising Manager Andre Pusey commented after the event:

Words can’t describe just how honoured we are to have hosted two events now that have resonated with so many people across Plymouth and Devon. To hear all the incredible feedback and see the level of generosity through signups and donations has made all the hard work and intricate planning more than worth it. Thank you so much — see you at the next ones!

Photos taken at the finish line are available to view below. We will have more information about the 2023/24 PHR series available very soon, and we can assure you the next 10K and half marathon will be even bigger and better than the last ones!
